The semester has ended and I would like to summarize
my experience in the E-Business course that I have taken in McGill – Desautels Faculty
of Management.
When the course started, I was afraid my
English and knowledge of technology wasn’t good enough to fit the expectations,
since I am an exchange student in a foreign country. However, it was a really
nice experience for me as well as a challenge.
I have had the opportunity to learn quite a bit things
related to E-Business with the Professor Pano Xinos and with some interesting
guest speakers: the history of internet, topics about security, recovery, how
we transact, business strategies and models, important terminology, the open
source & COTS, cloud computing, the importance of measuring and the
different ways to do it, some issues on the internet law, etc.
What I enjoyed the most was the fact that we had to
write each week an entry in our blogs. It has made me more aware of the current
technological and internet issues. During this fall semester I have been most
informed than ever about articles and news related to these topics, because I
had to do research in order to find interesting information and topics for my
blog. Now I am more concerned about the importance of these issues and how they
can affect a company. It may be the key to their success, or the contrary if
it’s not managed well. In my blog entries, I have talked about the current
security problems of companies, the benefits of cloud computing, online
shopping, encryption, etc. This
complements all that I have learned in the lectures.
Additionally, I have also had the opportunity to work in
a final project with an international group of students. Together, we have
analyzed the possibilities, risks and benefits of implementing e-commerce in a
real company.
In conclusion, not only I have learned new things and
new topics thanks to this course, but I have also became more concerned about
internet issues and their importance in today’s world.
Thank you for all these months that we
have shared!
